Hi there! 👋

My name is George, and I’m a data scientist. I explore data, build models, and write about AI.

I first discovered data science in the aftermath of the Cambridge Analytica scandal, when I realised how powerful – and potentially dangerous – data could be. With a background in astrophysics, I was drawn to the discipline’s mix of impact, rigour, and creativity. That curiosity led me to a master’s in Data Science and Analytics at Brunel University London, and later to roles in both industry and consulting.

Since then, I’ve worked as a sole data scientist in the debt collection space and as part of an R&D team at Anmut, building tools and frameworks to help organisations unlock greater value from their data. I mostly work in Python (scikit-learn, pandas, TensorFlow, NumPy), with experience in SQL and PowerBI. What excites me most about this field is its potential for impact across every aspect of our lives – and the opportunity to work alongside brilliant, curious people.

Right now, I’m looking for my next role, ideally working with larger datasets and models where engineering, speed, and purpose all come together. Outside of work, I’m a keen reader, a sabre fencer, and I’ve recently taken up running.

Things I’ve been working on

BoardGameGeek Kaggle dataset

I’ve been building the largest, most complete dataset of boardgames on Kaggle.

Some dashboard project

I’ve made some dashboard project and you can see it here.

Some ML model project

I’ve done some ML model project which you can read about here.

It shouldn’t come as any surprise that I think Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence (and more generally data analytics) is one of the greatest things to arise in the last twenty years. In this period we have seen rapid developments in autonomous robots/vehicles, healthcare, research and Generative AI. This last one in particular has launched AI into… Read more: How I use GenAI?
